Organizational development
What is organizational development?
Organizational development (OD) is a planned effort, which is organization-wide, it is managed from the topmost level in the hierarchy with the main aim to increase the organization’s effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organization’s processes using behavioral sciences knowledge, set of values that are largely humanistic, and open systems theory. Overall organization effectiveness is aimed at improvement by way of improving the organizational dimensions such as the external environment, mission, strategy, leadership, culture, structure, information and reward systems, and work policies and procedures.
The S-Saba team undertakes organization development processes that are guided by a holistic diagnosis of organizational health. Some of the tools that guide our diagnostic processes are McKinsey’s 7’s Model and tailored Organizational Capacity Assessment tools (OCAT).

how we do it
How is our process facilitation?
S-Saba Consultants are known for their excellent and modern process facilitation processes. In process facilitation, the facilitators provide a clear destination and a strong route map to get there. We keep this map simple and straightforward: This means you can all contribute fully to the event and the proposed outcomes that are agreed upon. This can only happen when you have a neutral facilitator who is managing the inputs and participants, timings, and structure.
S-Saba Consultants has facilitated many meetings using the powerful process facilitation methodology for USAID and their implementing partners with a lot of success. Some of the processes have involved multi-country stakeholders including East Africa Community, and African Union Commission for Agriculture.
The S-Saba team undertakes organization development processes that are guided by a holistic diagnosis of organizational health. Some of the tools that guide our diagnostic processes are McKinsey’s 7’s Model and tailored Organizational Capacity Assessment tools (OCAT).
Which organizations have benefited from our services?

thank you for being my coach!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your professional guidance and support
throughout my journey of coaching and Hogan Assessment. Your approach has been
instrumental in helping me achieve a new level of personal and professional growth.
Thanks to your unwavering commitment to challenging me, I have been able to push beyond
my limits and gain a fresh perspective on what is possible. I now feel more comfortable
sharing my story and engaging with others on this matter.
The experience has been truly transformative, and I am eager to continue exploring the
undiscovered quadrant of myself. While I have spoken about mental models with many
people, I recognize that I still have much to learn and build upon. I am determined to let my
actions inspire others and break free from the circle of influence I have drawn for myself.

I can’t recommend working with Mary enough
Mary and her colleague Lara did a three-day leadership training me, peers and managers at Amnesty International UK in 2020. The training itself was deeply engaging, hugely eye-opening and informative, and mostly importantly, transformative.
When we left the training, I worried that so often with these intensive experiences, you think you’ll change things and that others will too but you just fall back into your old ways work working. But not with this, so many of us implemented our learnings about ourselves (self-awareness and insight into our colleagues who we got to know much better in the training), our new management and leadership techniques (more of a coaching approach and performance management as a proactive and positive approach for example) and some frameworks (for thinking, negotiating challenges and finding solutions together) that it felt on a peer level and beyond like a new era.
One of great collaboration, consideration, and effective solution-finding. In addition, Mary’s ongoing coaching helped me through some challenging periods by providing focus, insight, and the tools to manage challenges with more ease, calm, focus, and direction. Mary is an exceptional teacher, coach, and person. I will be forever grateful to have met her and learned all of these lessons from her and Lara, which over 2 years later I still think about often.
I can’t recommend working with Mary enough. I think if every organization did, we would live in a very different world. A kinder and more productive one.

Very thorough, flexible, and truly passionate about human professional development through coaching.
My name is Celine Bankumuhari, CEO of C&M Consulting, a consulting company on high-level advocacy, influencing, and policy analysis. I got to know Mary Murimi through a referral from the then Regional Director of the Amnesty International office in Nairobi for East, Central, and Great Lakes region, Dr. Joan Nanyuki, currently the Director for African Child Policy Forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Dr. Nanyuki highly recommended Mary Murimi and I embarked on a journey of professional development with Ms. Murimi through coaching while working at the African Union Commission in charge of the program on the Free Movement of Persons in Africa.
With Mary, I was able to bring forward my best self and acquire confidence in working on my purpose and vision which resulted in the creation of C&M consulting. Today, among my clients count the World Bank, Samuel Hall, and Rift Valley Institute just to name a few, and this is within a span of less than 2 years.
Ms. Murimi is a very thorough person, flexible, and truly passionate about human professional development through coaching.
I would recommend her without any doubt to anyone interested in getting to their best next self professionally. Ms. Murimi is an amazing woman who sees career-building for young Africans as her own contribution to the edifice of the African continent.

Mary facilitated these processes with utmost professionalism and confidentiality
Africa Child Policy Forum (ACPF) engaged the services of Mary Njenga Murimi in the last two financial years 2020/2021, and 2021-2022 to support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) Administered the Hogan Lead Psychometric Assessments and 360 degrees’ assessment for the SLT. Mary facilitated open and candid one-on-one feedback sessions with the individual team members and worked with the individual members to define their coaching goals, facilitated Executive and Systemic Team Coaching sessions and supported in defining ways of working, collaboration, and complementarities within the SLT which were guided by the organization values and behaviors.
Mary facilitated these processes with utmost professionalism and confidentiality. The assignment has been transformational and empowering to the team. This has in effect translated into improved ways of working for our teams.
